Live3D is an open, standards-based platform for creating and viewing distributed 3D internet applications like multiuser games, chat environments, geographical information systems, authoring environments, interactive advertisements, online presentations, and database visualizations. The Live3D API provides everything you need to create these applications using Java or JavaScript. It includes an API User's Guide and API Reference as well as easy to follow examples.
Based on the VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) standard, the Live3D API utilizes Nestcape LiveConnect to allow Java and JavaScript to communicate directly with a VRML scene and the objects inside of it. This opens the door to programmatic behaviors for 3D objects, extreme user interactivity, and moving, dynamic 3D environments. In addition, LiveConnect enables you to write Live3D programs which interact with other Netscape plug-ins or Java applets, allowing, for example, a click on a 3D object to play or pause a video clip displayed in a video plug-in.
Don't forget to check out the Live3D Website for the latest release of the Live3D plug-in and API.
Check out these examples which use the Live3D Java/JavaScript API:
Here are some simpler examples which clearly show how to use some of the most common Live3D APIs.
Note: This first version of the Live3D API is for use on 32-bit Windows machines only (Windows 95 and NT.)
